CPR Training Without the Commute.

Panhandle CPR offers American Heart Association virtual training options that combine approved online learning with live, instructor-observed hands-on skills when the course format permits. Train from home or work, use the required training equipment, and complete the skills your course requires without sacrificing quality or instructor feedback.

Live Skills. Real Feedback. Your instructor must be able to observe and evaluate required psychomotor skills during an approved virtual skills session.

Choose the Format That Fits Your Needs

AHA course completion requirements vary by course. Virtual training is not simply watching a CPR class online—courses that include psychomotor skills still require the applicable hands-on practice and skills testing.

HOW IT WORKS

From Registration to Certification

The exact steps depend on the course you choose, but approved virtual pathways generally follow this structure.

1

Register

Select the virtual course or skills session that matches your training requirement.

2

Complete Online Learning

Finish the required AHA eLearning or HeartCode online portion before your skills appointment when applicable.

3

Prepare Your Equipment

Have the required manikin, AED trainer and other course-specific materials ready and positioned for instructor observation.

4

Complete Live Skills

Meet with your AHA Instructor by live video for required practice, coaching and skills testing.

AHA COURSE REQUIREMENTS MATTER

Virtual Does Not Mean “Hands-Off.”

For AHA courses that include psychomotor CPR skills, students must successfully complete the required hands-on component to receive the applicable course completion card. When a virtual skills option is used, the instructor still evaluates actual performance—not just knowledge.

Camera position, audio, training equipment and feedback must allow the instructor to accurately assess the skills required by the course.

What We Need From You

  • A reliable internet connection and live video capability
  • A quiet space with room to perform CPR skills
  • Required course-specific manikin and training equipment
  • Camera positioning that clearly shows your skill performance
  • Completed online course certificate when required
  • Active participation in practice, coaching and skills testing
TRAINING EQUIPMENT

We Make the Hands-On Part Possible.

Virtual skills sessions still require real hands-on practice, so we make that part easy. Panhandle CPR ships the training manikin and applicable training equipment directly to you before your scheduled session. You'll receive setup instructions so everything is ready when it is time to meet with your instructor live.

  • Training manikin shipped directly to you
  • AED training equipment when required for your course

  • Easy setup instructions before your live session
  • Return instructions for the shipped training equipment

VIRTUAL TRAINING FAQ

Okay... How Does This Actually Work?

Virtual CPR sounds a little different the first time you hear about it. Here are the questions we get most often.

Wait... can I really get AHA certified from home?
For certain courses, yes! AHA offers virtual training pathways that allow eligible online learning to be paired with a live, instructor-observed hands-on skills session. You still perform the actual skills — we're just watching, coaching and evaluating you through live video instead of standing in the same room.
So I can just watch some videos and get my CPR card?
Nope! CPR is still a hands-on skill. If your course requires CPR skills, you'll actually demonstrate them using the proper training equipment. Your instructor watches your performance live, provides feedback and verifies that you can complete the required skills.
How does Virtual Heartsaver work?
You'll complete the appropriate AHA Heartsaver online course and then meet with one of our instructors virtually for the hands-on portion. You'll use the required training equipment while your instructor guides you through the skills and completes your skills evaluation.
What about BLS for healthcare providers?
We offer a virtual skills option for eligible HeartCode® BLS students. You'll complete HeartCode BLS online first, then meet live with an AHA BLS Instructor for your skills session. You still demonstrate the required BLS skills — your instructor is simply evaluating you remotely.
Do I really need a manikin at home?
Yep! And you don't have to go hunting for one. Panhandle CPR ships the training manikin and applicable training equipment directly to you before your session. We'll also send instructions so you know exactly how to set everything up.
What does the virtual appointment actually look like?
Think video meeting meets CPR class. You'll position your phone, tablet or computer so your instructor can clearly see you and the training equipment. We'll walk you through the session, watch your skills, provide coaching when needed and complete the required skills testing.
Do I have to be good with technology?
Not at all. If you can join a video call and position your device so we can see you, you're most of the way there. We'll provide instructions before your appointment so you know what to expect.
Will my employer accept virtual training?
Acceptance can depend on your employer, school, licensing agency or regulatory body. If you're taking the course for work, school or a professional requirement, we recommend confirming exactly what they require before registering. If you're unsure which course you need, contact us and we'll help you identify the appropriate option.
What if I have trouble with a skill during my appointment?
That's what your instructor is there for! This isn't supposed to feel like someone silently watching you take a test. Your instructor can coach you, help you correct your technique and give you an opportunity to demonstrate the required skill correctly.
